Celebrities pay last respects to veteran actor Rita Bhaduri

Veteran actor Rita Bhaduri died on Tuesday morning.  She was known especially for her role in films like Raja, Beta, Viraasat, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na and Hero No.1 among others and the 62-year-old was last seen on TV show Nimki Mukhiya. The news about her sudden demise left the entire film and television industry shocked. Her last rites were performed at the Cremation Ground in Andheri East, Mumbai. A slew of actors paid their last respects to the veteran.

Rita Bhaduri has worked in many TV shows, including Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Kumkum and Amanat. Her films credit included Hero No 1, Virasat, Raja, Julie, Beta, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar and many other films.
She was from the 1973 batch of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune and her batch included actress, Zarina Wahab.
The funeral took place in Andheri, Mumbai where family and celebrities from the television world were seen in attendance. Rita Bhaduri was admitted at an ICU for the past 10 days in Mumbai but got cardiac arrest at about 1.45 am.
“For the past two months, she was not keeping well. I will really miss her. More than a co-actor, she was a great human being. I learnt a lot of things from her. She was just like a family member to me,” Mid-Day quoted co-actress Shiwani Chakraborty as saying.

“We deeply regret to inform you that Reeta Bhaduri has departed for her journey beyond. The funeral rites will be held on 17th July, Tuesday 12 noon at the Cremation Ground, Parsi Wada Road, Parshiwada, Chakala, Andheri East. Extremely sad.. lost a wonderful human being .. a mother to many of us.. will miss u Ma…” – (sic)

Zarina said she was unaware about Rita’s health issues. Zarina last met Rita at a FTII function. “Rita looked distinctly weak but did not discuss her health. It is extremely shocking and sad that my friend is no more. My problem is compounded by the fact that since early morning, I am tied at SJ studio (Saki Naka) for a film shoot and cannot go to see her even now. I will miss her a lot,” Zarina added.
Talking to SpotboyE.com, her niece Mini said, “Ritaji had developed several complications. Her kidneys had failed since some time and more recently, she had a spine surgery done. After that, she developed many complications and her other internal organs started deteriorating. The last one month was tough.”

She was most known for films like Sawan Ko Aane Do a 1979 Rajshri Productions film and Raja (1995) for which she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Rita Bhaduri has been a part of more than 70 films and has worked in many popular TV shows. From playing a motherly figure to tickling the funny bones, Rita has been versatile throughout her acting career.
