On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed its charge sheet against four accused in the alleged gang rape and murder case of a 19-year-old Dalit woman named, Manisha Valmiki, in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, said the officials. The charge sheet suggests that the victim was gang-raped and murdered by the accused.
The CBI team also did different forensic tests at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar. The investigators had also met doctors at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, where the victim was treated after the alleged gangrape, said the officials.
The charge sheet has been filed under sections 354, 376 A, 376 D (rape), and 302 (murder) of the IPC and SC-ST Act. The CBI invoked charges of gang rape and murder against Sandeep, Luvkush, Ravi, Ramu, and the local court in Hathras has taken cognizance, the lawyer of the accused said.
Earlier, the Forensic Science Laboratory report stated that no rape on the Hathras victim Manisha Valmiki as they found sperm in samples. The postmortem report says the victim died due to her neck injury.
Manisha was first admitted to Aligarh Muslim University’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital and later was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Monday. Her mortal remains were cremated by the police around 3 am. The victim’s family alleged that the police were forcibly trying to get her body cremated in the middle of the night. However, the local police officers said that the cremation was being carried out as per the wishes of the family.
