Shershaah: Captain Vikram Batra’s brother calls the film his dream, thanks Indian Army
On the trailer launch of 'Shershaah,' Captain Vikram Batra’s brother, Vishal Batra called the film his 'dream.'
On Sunday, the trailer of Shershah was released, which marked the 22nd Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration. At the trailer launch, actors Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, producers Karan Johar and Shabbir Boxwalla, and director Vishnu Varadhan were all present. Joining them was Vishal Batra, twin brother of Captain Vikram Batra.
The film revolves around the life journey of Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain Vikram Batra, it stars Sidharth in a double role, as Batra and his identical twin brother Vishal; Kiara Advani plays the role of Dimple Cheema
At the trailer launch, Vishal said that it was his dream to make a film about his brother. “The dream of making a movie on Vikram began in 2015. When I met CDS Bipin Rawat sir, I told him that I wanted to make a movie and we would not be able to do it without the Army’s help,” he said.
He added, “I have been with them (filmmakers) throughout the journey, for long. I now hope that the movie, Shershaah and Vikram’s journey inspires the youth of the country to join Indian Army.”
The event was also attended by several officers of the Indian Armed Forces, such as General Y K Joshi, General Officer Commanding-In Chief, Northern Command and Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat.
Bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, This also marks Vishnuvardhan’s directorial debut in Bollywood and Hindi films.
Earlier, ‘ the film was scheduled to release theatrically on 3 July 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Shershaah’ is all set to release on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video.
