The 74th Cannes Film Festival came to a close on July 17, 2021. The prestigious event ended in the south of France with the awarding of its top prize, the Palme d’Or. This years jury named the best films and performances of the festival. Spike Lee served as president. The jury featured director Mati Diop, singer/songwriter Mylène Farmer, actress/director Maggie Gyllenhaal, writer/director Jessica Hausner, actress/director Mélanie Laurent, writer/director Kleber Mendonça Filho, actor Tahar Rahim, and actor Song Kang-ho.
The Palme d’Or was awarded to Titane directed by Julia Ducournau. Ducournau went on to be the second woman to win the Palme d’Or in 74 years. Jane Campion won the coveted prize in 1993, jointly with Chen Kaige.
At the beginning of the festival, Jodie Foster accepted the festival’s Honorary Palme d’Or prize. An Honorary Palme also went to Marco Bellocchio during the ceremony.

- Palme d’Or: Julia Ducournau for “Titane” (France)
- Grand Prix: Shared by Ashgar Farhadi for “A Hero” (Iran) and Juho Kuosmanen for “Compartment No.6” (Finland)
- Best director: Leos Carax “Annette” (France)
- The Best actress: Renate Reinsve for “Worst Person in the World” (Norway)
- Best actor: Caleb Landry Jones for “Nitram” (US)
- The Best screenplay: Hamaguchi Ryusuke and Takamasa Oe for “Drive My Car” (Japan)
- Jury prize: Shared by Nadav Lapid for “Ahed’s Knee” (Israel) and Apichatpong Weerasethakul for “Memoria” (Thailand)
- Best first film: Antoneta Kusijanovic for “Murina” (Croatia)
- Also Best short film: Hong Kong’s “All The Crows In The World” Tang Yi
