New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s hijab-clad picture was projected on Dubai’s Burj Khalifa on Friday night. This was done in gratitude for the support shown by Jacinda Ardern towards the Muslim community following Christchurch terror attacks. Notably, at least 50 people were killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at a crowded mosque in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, during afternoon prayers on Friday last week.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also praised the New Zealand PM for her support to the Muslim community. He also praised New Zealand’s communities for standing in solidarity with their Muslim neighbours against the hate crime.
Here’s the tweet of Al Maktoum, take a look:
In the meantime, in New Zealand, the victims of the Christchurch terror attacks were laid to rest in a mass burial.
It is to be noted that Ardern received widespread praise from around the world and in particular from Muslim countries and their leaders for the way she has handled the aftermath of the terrorist attack carried out by a white supremacist. On the other hand, social media has been flooded with messages of admiration for Ardern, with many using her as an example for their own politicians to follow.
