Borussia Dortmund extended their stay at the top of the Bundesliga table after a thrilling 4-3 win over Augsburg at the Westfalenstadion on Saturday. Bayern Munich playing at home, where left stunned 3-0 by Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Allianz Arena.
The match between Dortmund and Augsburg could have swung in favour of any side but it was league leaders who, through a Paco Alcacer strike in the stoppage time, clinched all three points and took their points tally to 17. Alcacer, on loan from Barcelona, scored a stunning hat-trick that turned the game completely on its head after Alfred Finnobason gave Augsburg the lead in the 22nd minute.
They maintained their one-goal lead at halftime before Alcacer netted his and his team’s first goal of the match in the 62nd minute through an assist from English teenager Jadon Sancho.
Defender Philipp Max once again took Augsburg in front before Alcacer equalised for the hosts with an 80th-minute strike.
Four minutes later, Mario Goetze, who was Germany’s 2014 World Cup hero took the hosts in front before Augsburg ensured the match didn’t slip from their hands when Michael Gregoritsch made it 3-3 as the game progressed into stoppage time.

Alcacer completed his hat-trick in the sixth minute of the added time to put an end to a thrilling contest as leaders Dortmund continued their unbeaten run. They have five win and two draws from seven matches and have a three-point lead over Moenchengladbach, who downed Bayern in their own backyard.
Some quick passes in the 10th minute saw Alassane Plea take the visitors in front with a 10th-minute strike. Six minutes later, it was Lars Stindl who doubled the lead.
Although the possession was dominated by the hosts, Patrick Hermann slotted in the third goal in the 88th minute which sealed the convincing victory for his side.
However, the goal had to be confirmed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) before it was awarded to the visitors, who are now at the second spot in the table.
Elsewhere, Schalke 04 beat Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-0 with Weston McKennie netting his first goal in the Bundesliga.
