The outbreak of Coronavirus has forced people belonging to all parts of the world practising social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To keep millions of people entertained during the lockdown, YouTube will hold a ‘Dear Class of 2020’ original special as a video graduation ceremony.
YouTube’s virtual graduation will be held on June 6, 2020 on the YouTube Original channel. It is to be noted that Former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama will be headlining the ceremony with individual commencement speeches as well as a joint speech to the graduates.
Besides Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, YouTube’s virtual graduation ceremony will have appearances from the likes of former Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, K-Pop group BTS, Lady Gaga, Malala Yousafzai and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice among others.
BTS will reportedly deliver a commencement address and also perform at a virtual grad night after-party.
Besides the above-mentioned personalities, the Virtual graduation ceremony is likely to witness special appearances from Kerry Washington, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, as well as several well-known YouTubers.
The announcement of YouTube’s virtual graduation ceremony comes a few days after One World: Together At Home virtual concert series. The virtual concert had appearances from the likes of Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones, Lizzo and Taylor Swift.
The only reason to organise this event is to bring inspiration and hope to those that are graduating this year despite all the things that are going throughout the world. They hope that the speakers and performances will give encouragement to those that have made it to graduation.
You can join the event on June 6 on the YouTube Originals channel as well as YouTube’s Learn@Home site.
