BTS Sets New Record By Becoming The 1st Korean Artist To Surpass 20 Million Total Album Sales On Gaon Chart

K-Pop boy band BTS is no stranger to setting new records. The band has been exceeding expectations ever since they debuted. Their latest album ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ dominated album charts in the top five largest music markets in the world.
Now, BTS has set a new record as per Gaon Chart’s March 2020 album chart that was released on April 9. BTS has sold over 20 million copies of their 14 albums. This includes releases from their 2013 debut album ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’ to their February 2020 album ‘Map of the Soul: 7.’
In addition, 7 of the BTS albums have scored million certification from Gaon Chart. Their album sales numbers have been through the roof and the seven albums on the Gaon Chart are:
- WINGS came in with 1.13 million copies sold
- You Never Walk Alone sold 1.02 million
- Love Yourself: Her raised the bar with 2.22 million copies sold
- Love Yourself: Tear with 2.21 million
- Love Yourself: Answer with 2.59 million
- Map of the Soul: Persona with 3.77 million
- Map of the Soul: 7 became Gaon’s first ever quadruple-million certified album with 4.17 million copies sold.
The news came out on April 9th. However, it was revealed that BTS had first surpassed the 20 million total sales mark on the February Gaon Chart. BTS had hit the 10 million sales milestone in 2018.
The news was also confirmed by a representative from Big Hit Entertainment.
“BTS has surpassed 20 million copies in total album sales as the first Korean pop music artist in history to do so, and they’ve now become the artist with the highest album sales.”
