On Monday, Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yediyurappa often referred to by his initials, BSY, has officially stepped down as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Today, during his speech on the 2 years anniversary of his government, he emotionally announced his resignation from the post at the Karnataka Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.
News agency ANI tweeted: “I have decided to resign. I will meet the Governor after lunch: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa at a programme to mark the celebration of 2 years of his govt”

While speaking about his journey in politics, the Chief Minister broke down and said, “At a time when there were no cars, I remember cycling to work for the BJP party in Shikaripura, Shimoga. We, along with a few BJP workers, built the party and took it to where it is today.”
“Today, chief minister BS Yediyurappa’s second year in the fourth term has completed. He has done good work. He will continue to guide Karnataka and BJP, ” quoted BJP general secretary CT Ravi.
Following the announcement of his resignation, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has arrived at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.
The announcement was widely anticipated. Last week, Yediyurappa visited New Delhi and met Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, making the speculation stronger. The names of many leaders have been doing the rounds to replace Yediyurappa as Karnataka’s Chief Minister.
According to PTI, Yediyurappa stated that he had offered to resign two months ago. “I will work for the party day and night for the next 10- 15 years. Let there be no doubt about it,” he said.
