BookMyShow And PVR charge Internet Handling Fees Illegally; case filed
Recently, activist Vijay Gopal, the president of ‘Forum Against Corruption’, has filed a case in Hyderabad’s consumer court against BookMyShow and PVR. Notably, the case has been filed for charging Internet Handling Fee illegally.
When it comes to book a movie ticket, it is a lot easier to do it online. And, if you book a movie ticket online, we don’t need to tell you about the ‘Internet Handling Fee’ that you have to pay to complete the booking. Actually, ‘Internet Handling Fee’ is illegal.
Taking a cognizance into this, Vijay Gopal has earlier filed RTI against ‘Internet Handling Fee’, to which Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that the said fees is supposed to be paid by the merchant and not end customers. In reply, RBI said, “As per the RBI rules, every merchant has to pay Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) to banks when they accept payments online.”
On the basis of RTI reply, Vijay Gopal filed a case against BookMyShow and PVR. He took to Twitter to announce the same. Take a look:

I don't mind internet fee of 20rs. But if I book 4 tickets, why should I pay internet fee for each if the booking? Do these guys think booking 4 tickets consumes more internet?
