Just recently SS Rajamouli has announced the release date for his much anticipated film, RRR featuring Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt in the pivotal roles. This film is now slated to be released on October 13, 2021, which falls under the Dussehra week. Boney Kapoor’s upcoming film, Maidaan is also slated to be released during the same week, however he had announced the release date six months ago. Boney now calls it “unethical” because Rajamouli didn’t consult him before announcing the release date for RRR. Interestingly, both the films features Ajay Devgn in the pivotal roles.
SS Rajamouli is known for ruling the box-office after introducing us to films such as Eega, Magadheera and the Baahubali franchises. The star filmmaker undoubtedly gives a tough challenge to other filmmakers at the ticket counters. Apparently, Boney Kapoor has now expressed his disappointment over the release date of Rajamouli’s upcoming film, RRR. This Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer is slated to be released in October and it would be clashing with Ajay Devgn starrer bio-pic Maidaan, which is based on the real life story of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim.
According to a latest report by Bollywood Hungama, a source informed, “Ajay is aware that his prestigious bio-pic Maidaan on football legend Syed Abdul Rahim was due in the Dussehra week this year. He very specifically told Rajamouli to speak to Boney Kapoor before announcing his release date. But Rajamouli went ahead without consulting Boney.”
Boney Kapoor who is upset by SS Rajamouli’s decision of releasing RRR in October, stated to the portal that, “Of course I am upset! This is most unethical. I announced my release date for Maidaan six months ago. At a time when we should all be coming together to save the movie industry, he (Rajamouli) has gone and done this.”
SS Rajamouli is yet to react to the disappointment of Boney Kapoor over the release of RRR.
