The BMC's Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Shirish Dixit Lost His Life After Getting Infected With Coronavirus
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Shirish Dixit breathed his last after getting infected with Coronavirus. As per the reports, he passed away at his house in Mumbai today i.e June 9th. The chief engineer in the water supply department was 55-year-old.
Dixit was announced to be death on Tuesday morning and he was apparently asymptomatic to the COVID-19 infection. He played a key role in the setting up of COVID-19 facilities such as the NSCI Dome during the lockdown. Other officials in Maharashtra including BMC members have been constantly working hard to contain the outspread of the COVID-19 infections. However, the state remains in the list of worst-affected state in the entire country with apparently 88,528 confirmed cases of COVID-19.The count is followed by Tamil Nadu with 33,229 COVID-19 cases and Delhi with 29,943. As per the reports, a total number of 55 BMC workers are said to have lost their lives due the Coronavirus infections in last two months.
While talking about COVID-19 cases in the state, a report in the Live Mint quoted, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, saying, “While ensuring that people do not have to go too far for getting themselves tested, the state will also work on ensuring that these testing facilities are available for them at affordable rates.”
