Actor Chadwick Boseman, best known for his iconic role of Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe has passed away on Friday. The actor died at his home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side. His publicist Nicki Fioravante confirmed the news to The Associated Press. Chadwick was just 43.
Boseman passed away after a private battle with colon cancer. The actor had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016. But the 43-year-old actor never opened up on his condition in public. He continued to work in Hollywood flicks in between operation and chemotherapy. He lost his four-year battle with colon cancer on Friday, August 28, 2020.
The news was confirmed by a statement posted on his Twitter feed: “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. It was the honor of his life to bring King T’Challa to life in ‘Black Panther.’”
Chadwik Boseman became the first black superhero to get his own standalone film with 2018’s ‘Black Panther.’ The movie was loved by fans and critics alike. It went on to gross over $1 billion worldwide.
Before garnering fame as Black Panther, Chadwick played black icons, Jackie Robinson, in “42” and James Brown in “Get on Up.”
The news of Boseman’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood and around the world.
