We are focused on building next-generation infrastructure for the people, be it highway projects or electricity generation projects. This was said by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday while addressing ‘Jan Aabhar Rally’ in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
Notably, Jan Aabhar Rally was organized to mark the completion of the first year of the tenure of BJP government in Himachal Pradesh.
The rally saw PM Modi talking at length about various issues concerning the state and also describing the state government’s numerous achievements in one year.
PM Modi began by reminiscing about Himachal Pradesh being both, ‘Devbhoomi’ and ‘Veerbhoomi,’ thus reflecting the state’s significance for the whole country. He also applauded the BJP government led by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur for working tirelessly for the development of the state and the welfare of its people in its past one year and hoped this pace would continue in the future too.
Describing the rapid pace of progress and development undertaken by the BJP led government, the Prime Minister said, “We are focused on building next generation infrastructure for the people, be it highway projects or electricity generation projects. Many of these projects are currently underway in Himachal Pradesh.”
In addition, PM Modi talked at length about the boost in tourism and allied activities with the efforts of BJP governments, both in the state and the Centre. In this regard, the Prime Minister mentioned about the steep rise in the construction of approved hotels in the country during the last four years from 1,200 in 2013 to more than 1,800 in 2018, thus opening up numerous opportunities for the tourism sector to flourish.
The last leg of his address saw Prime Minister Modi also touch upon other issues of national importance on which rapid progress has been made in the last four years including One Rank, One Pension (OROP), Swachh Bharat Mission, Farmers’ Welfare and Corruption.
Talking about how corruption has been systematically curbed under his watch, PM Modi mentioned how the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme has saved more than 90,000 crore rupees during the last four years.
In end, PM Modi proclaimed, “This has been made possible because they are all now scared of the ‘Chowkidar.’ He concluded his address by hoping that the rapid pace of development in Himachal Pradesh continues in the future too under the leadership of Jairam Thakur.
