Politicians drunk on power are no rarity in this country. By the abuse of power and misuse of the posts, uneducated politicians even make it embarrassing for the parties they represent. A similar incident happened in Meerut when a BJP Councillor, who doubles up as the owner of a restaurant, thrashed a sub-inspector in public over an altercation. Even the female lawyer friend of the cop wasn’t spared.
The fracas took place on Friday evening in Meerut, when its BJP Councillor from ward No 40, Manish Chaudhary was seen on camera thrashing Mohiuddinpur police outpost in-charge Sukhpal Singh Pawar in front of the hotel staffs for a disagreement over delay in serving food.
If reports are anything to go by, Pawar went for dinner along with a city-based lawyer in the restaurant on Friday late evening, allegedly in an inebriated condition. The brawl kicked in as the SI questioned the delay in serving meals with the hotel staffers. Chaudhary intervened and thrashed the cop in full public view and the lawyer was seen quarrelling too. The entire incident was caught on camera and went viral on social media.
The altercation turned ugly when repeated blows on the Sub-Inspector actually put the cop on the mat (Can be seen in the video). The abuses were also hurled at the government servant and his lawyer friend.
The BJP Councillor has been put under arrest under section 395 (punishment for dacoity) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of Indian Penal Code.
