Australia defeat Zimbabwe by 100 runs in third match of the Tri series in Zimbabwe. Aaron Finch looked in sublime touch scoring 172 runs in just 76 balls. With four balls left in the innings he perished in what was a bizarre end for the Aussie skipper. Apparently he dismissed himself by getting out hit wicket on the bowling of Muzarabani. Zimbabwe in reply managed just 129 runs in full quota of overs giving Australia their second victory in the series.

Aaron Finch and D’Arcy Short opened the innings for Australia and they batted beautifully. Finch was the aggressor and D’Arcy Short played the second fiddle as the skipper smashed Zimbabwe bowlers all around the park. He hit 16 fours and 10 sixes in his mammoth innings of 172 runs. He now holds the record of scoring the highest individual score in an International T20 match. He could have easily surpassed Chris Gayle’s 175 that he scored in the Indian Premier League but the hit wicket turned out to be a bizarre end to the high class innings.
Andrew Tye starred with the ball in hand, taking three wickets for just 12 runs. He was well supported by Ashton Agar who clinched two wickets giving away just 16 runs. Chasing a target of 230 runs was always going to be difficult for the hosts.
Australia have almost registered their place in the finals. Zimbabwe play Pakistan in the next match on 4th July.
