Bihar: Convicted gangster Santosh Jha shot dead inside court premises

Gangster Santosh Jha, serving life-term imprisonment for the murder of two engineers, was shot dead at the Sitamarhi civil court in Bihar on Tuesday.

Jha, accompanied by two policemen was brought to the court for a hearing on the case when an unidentified man opened fired as he was entering the court premises.

According to a report in Zee News, the gunman fled the scene after shooting the dreaded gangster.

Santosh Jha and associate Mukesh Pathak were involved in the murder of two engineers on December 16, 2015, in Darbhanga, Bihar.

The duo had reportedly tried to extort money from a private company in Bihar which was hired by the state government to build a road in Darbhanga. But when not paid, Santosh’s men had shot two engineers of the private company – Brajesh Kumar Singh and Mukesh Kumar Singh – killing them in the process.

He was later arrested by the force from the Ramgarh railway station in Jharkhand on June 11, 2016. He and his nine associates were awarded life sentence by a local court in Darbhanga.

Meanwhile, another of his associates Abhishek Jha, who was also serving a life sentence in the same case was killed earlier this year in July in a similar incident, while he was being produced before a local court in Ease Champaran.
