The year 2018 seems to be a bad year for Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan as their movies did not perform well at the box office window. Meanwhile, people are calling 2018 a year of content, not stardom. The movies which had good content were applauded and received loved by a large audience and made a good collection at box office.
Talking about unexpected hits, film Stree, featuring Sharadha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao and Badhai Ho, were the full of Masala and good content did a better performance than bigwigs. What is even more amusing is that a film, which was laced with some of the biggest names in the history of Indian Cinema, was entirely rejected by the audience.
We bring to you the biggest flop Bollywood movies of 2018. Yes, we have included the Thugs of Hindostan too in the list. But it isn’t the only one film that has made Bollywood bleed this year.
Here are the biggest flop Bollywood movies of 2018:
Thugs Of Hindostan:
Budget – Rs 300 crore (approx)
Box office: Rs 151.9 crore
Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer Thugs of Hindostan is among the most expensive but flopped movies of 2018. The movie was made on a budget of approximately Rs 300 crore but earned merely Rs 150 crore at box office window. It was backed by Yash Raj Films. The constant comparison to the Pirates Of Carribean series didn’t help its case either. Resultant? It became this year’s costliest MISTAKE!
Aiyaary:
Budget – Rs 60 crore (approx)
Box office – Rs. 18.22 crore
Neeraj Pandey’s directorial Aiyaari had very rarely disappointment anymore since a Wednesday happened. Pandey had a commendable cast in Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee and yet the film tanked. It will be wrong to blame Black Panther, which released alongside it, for the debacle. If it had merit, no force from Wakanda could have managed to stop it.
Namaste England:
Budget – Rs 65-75 crore (approx)
Box office – 8 crore
Making a sequel to Namastey London seems to be a blunder for Vipul Shah with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. The film had a good buzz around it since these two were reuniting after Ishaqzaade. But it did not perform well at the ticket window.
Bhavesh Joshi:
Budget – Rs 25 crore (approx)
Box office – Rs 1.46 crore
Bhavesh Joshi had been in the making for a long time until it released this year. But it failed to get people to the theatres. However, it’s release on Netflix did earn the film many accolades.
Welcome To New York:
Budget – Rs 35 crore (approx)
Box office – Rs 2.38 crore
You must be wondering, why Karan Johar made Welcome To New York? The film featured Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role but it did not work out. We will leave it at that.
