Bhopal: School bus conductor rapes 3-year-old girl, arrested

Rape crimes against minors in India are not stopping, even though the Union government making strict rules to control it. In the latest incident, a school van by its school van conductor was detained in Bhopal on Friday for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl, informed the police.

Briefing more, police said on Friday that the incident took place when that the girl — a pre-nursery student — was returning home in the school van in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. The conductor has been detained on Thursday. Police inspector Baljeet Singh added that the accused claims that he is 17-year-old and his age is being verified.

Singh said the girl told her mother about the incident on Wednesday at 2 pm after returning from the school. After further inquiring, the girl named the conductor and then the mother lodged a complaint in the police station.

The inspector said the child returned home from her school at around 2 pm and told her mother about the incident. When her mother inquired more about the incident, the child named the bus conductor, the police officer said.

Police have detained the accused under various sections of IPC including Section 376 AB, which deals with punishment for rape of girls under the age of 12, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. It is to be known that last year Madhya Pradesh government has unanimously passed a bill introducing the death penalty for those found guilty of raping minors aged 12 years or less.
