Bhindranwale Tiger Force, a Militant group has taken the responsibility of the blast at Maqsudan police station in Jalandhar city of Punjab, which left Police personnel injured.
A letter mentioning Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan on its letterhead went viral on social media on Saturday, said that they took the responsibility of the four low-intensity blasts that took place at the Maqsudan police station.
Though the authenticity of the purported letter yet to ascertain, the letter warned Police officials not to harass people. Meanwhile, Jalandhar Police Commissioner P K Sinha said he was aware of the letter and the claims of the letter would be verified. “We have taken the cognisance of this letter and this will be part of our investigation,” Sinha told PTI.
The blast left the Station house officer and head constable injured. State Director General of Police Suresh Arora reached the spot and took stock of the situation. According to the Police, the blast triggered after an explosive material was hurled inside the Police station.
Besides, a forensic team from the Punjab police, an investigation team of the National Security Guard visited the police station on Saturday to examine the kind of material used in the blast, Sinha told PTI.
“The police station is housed in a building of a primary health centre. It appears that someone hurled some explosive from outside. The police station is open from two sides and has a low boundary wall,” Jalandhar Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Sinha told PTI over phone. At the time of the blast, Maqsudan Police Station’s SHO was in a meeting with other personnel.
Following the blast, the area around the Maqsudan police station was cordoned off and security was beefed up in entire Jalandhar. A forensic team and the National Security Guard investigation team reached the spot to examine the kind of material used in the blast, Sinha added.
