Bharat Bandh On December 8: All You Need To Know
Bharat Bandh: Local trains, hotels, autos, cabs, BEST buses to be operational in Mumbai
Farmers are protesting against the three new laws implemented by the Central Government for many days. After several rounds of talks between farmers and the centre, failed to yield any result. They have now called for Bharat Bandh on Tuesday, December 8th. The call for complete shutdown, comes a day ahead of the sixth meeting, between protesting farmers and the center.
Congress and several other opposition parties have extended their support to Bharat Bandh. Many trader unions, transport unions and lawyer unions have also extended their support to the Bharat Bandh. The Union Home Ministry has issued an advisory to all states and Union Territories regarding the Bharat Bandh. They have asked the governments of all states and UTs to ensure that law and order is maintained during Bharat Bandh.
Here is all you need to know about what will be open and what will remain close on December 8:
These will remain open:
- Banking services will remain open
- Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses will operate as ususual.
- In Delhi, public transport including Metro and buses will work as usual.
- Markets in Delhi and other parts of the country will remain open.
- Emergency, ambulance and hospital services will remain unaffected
- Wedding programs will be allowed
- Taxis and Autos will function as usual in Mumbai
- Mumbai local train services, on the Central Line, Western Line and Harbour will continue to operate
- Hotels, restaurants, resorts and bars too will remain open in Mumbai.
These will remain close:
- Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) will remain close in support of farmers.
- Transport and truck unions in Punjab and Haryana will not operate during the Bharat Bandh.
- Milk and vegetable supply will be affected during the Bharat Bandh.
- Mandis in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and some other states will be closed.
- Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi and all other mandis will be closed as well.
- Hotel and Restaurant Association of Punjab has announced to shut down all hotels, restaurants, resorts, and bars in the state.
- Uber, Ola taxi services will not operate during Bharat Bandh in Delhi/NCR region.
The Bharat Bandh will begin at 11 a.m. and continue till 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
