A few days back, the makers of Khaali Peeli released their first-ever song, titled, Beyonce Sharma Jayegi, however, the song was brutally trolled, and the netizens slammed the makers for racist connection. The line that has received backlash goes this way, ‘Tujhse Dekhke Goriye, Beyonce Sharma Jayegi.’
The makers were trolled for comparing the Hollywood pop icon Beyonce to a fair coloured girl, however, now, the Khaali Peeli makers have changed ‘Beyonce Sharma Jayegi’ to ‘Beyonse Sharma Jayegi.’ The thumbnail and the video title on YouTube has also been changed.

The outrage on the racist lyrics come to a couple of months after the global Black Lives Matter movement, the song also received more dislikes on YouTube than the likes.
Addressing the controversy, director Maqbool Khan issued an official statement and said: “First, without any hesitation or excuses we want to apologise to anyone offended. We assure you that the lyric in question was never intended racially. In fact, the term ‘goriya’ has been so often and traditionally used in Indian songs to address a girl, that it didn’t occur to any of us to interpret it in the literal manner.”
“Also the comparison with Beyonce is simply meant to be a street-smart guy flattering a girl who is trying to impress that her dancing/performance is worth comparing to even Beyonce who we all see as the final word, the epitome of talent, beauty, performance, style and attitude. We are all huge fans, and there was never any question of disrespect.”
The song has been composed by musical duo Vishal-Shekhar. Crooned by Nakash Aziz and Neeti Mohan, the track is written by Kumaar and Raj Shekhar.
Khaali Peeli is all set to be released on a digital platform on 2nd October on pay-per-view platform Zee Plex.
