Ghana’s Year of Return campaign has witnessed plenty of superstars belonging to American visiting the country to attend the historic event. The latest celebrity who have just arrived Ghana is none other than American singer Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles.
There are rumors claiming that Beyonce will perform in Ghana this weekend during the Afro Nation festival. Rubbishing the rumors, official publicist of American singer, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter told Ghanaian media that she will not be performing this weekend during the Afro Nation festival, as part of the Year of Return program.
Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure took to Instagram and wrote, “Just here to deliver the truth. The official truth and nothing but the truth. Beyoncé is NOT performing in Accra, Ghana this weekend. To all who have returned “home,” have the most beautiful time. #onelove”
Talking about Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles, she has arrived the country a few hours ago and she was spotted at the Kotoka International Airport took for posing with number of people before she left to her hotel.
The “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” is said to be a major landmark spiritual and birth-right journey inviting the Global African family, home and abroad, to mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia.
The arrival of enslaved Africans marked a sordid and sad period, when our kith and kin were forcefully taken away from Africa into years of deprivation, humiliation and torture.
This year August marked 400 years since enslaved Africans arrived in the United States, “The Year of Return, Ghana 2019” celebrates the cumulative resilience of all the victims of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade who were scattered and displaced through the world in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
