Bengaluru: School principal hacked to death by gang in front of 20 students
The principal of the Havanur Public School was hacked to death by a six-member gang in front of almost 20 students. According to a report, the principal was holding a special class for the 20 students, police said. The Havanur Public School is located in suburban Agrahara Dasarahalli in Bengaluru.
According to the report, the principal was teaching class X students when the six-member group barged into the classroom and hacked him to death in front of the students. The principal has been identified as Ranganath.
After killing principal, the group drove away in the car in which they came to school. Later, based on a tip-off, the police have arrested one of the six-member gang from Bengaluru’s Mahalaxmi Layout area.
The arrested accused received a leg injury when police fired at him after he attacked them. He was taken to the hospital and treated.
According to the police, a land dispute involving the school building is suspected to be the reason for the killing. The principal Ranganath was working with RBI before starting Havanur Public School in 2003 after retirement. Ranganath was the founder of the Havanur Public School.
The police have identified four of the assailants as Prasad, Shrinivas, Muniraj alias Babli, and Mahesh.
