West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh’s car was attacked in East Midnapore district on Monday when he arrived there to attend a meeting with a contingent of 10– 12 cars, PTI reported on Monday.
“Ghosh was shown black flags while entering the venue of a party meeting near Contai central bus stand. The miscreants also broke the window panes of the state BJP president’s car,” a police officer was quoted as saying by the news agency.
The officer, however, added that the miscreants were yet to be identified by the police.
Ghosh though pointed towards Trinamool Congress, accusing that it was the “handiwork” of the TMC workers.
“The TMC workers broke the window panes of my car and damaged 15 motorbikes that were a part of the contingent accompanying me. Three of our workers have received serious injuries in the attack”, he alleged, reports the news agency.

Things are however under control said the police later adding that the BJP leader’s meet went underway as scheduled. “Policemen have been deployed in huge numbers in the area and we are looking into the situation, trying to identify the miscreants,” said the police.
This is however not the first the first time he has been attacked by ‘Trinamool goons’ said the Saffron leader claiming that he had faced similar attacks on earlier occasions. But “We are prepared for it. We know they will anything to stop the BJP. This is the kind of situation we have been facing in Bengal.”
The West Bengal ruling party denied the charges, saying that they have never stopped BJP from holding any meeting anywhere in the state.
TMC MP Dibyendu Adhikari, who was alleged by Ghosh to have been present on the spot when his (Ghosh’s) car was attacked denied his presence.
“I was passing through the area when I came to know that Ghosh was shown black flags by his own party men. The attack was the result of the saffron party’s internal fight,” he said. “It was unfortunate that the BJP president made such allegations.”
