Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes out of Scotland ODI
Controversies, injuries and bad form has made things difficult for the England International Ben Stokes. Not a good last one year for the English all rounder. He picked up left hamstring injury while training just before the final Test match against Pakistan.
However, someone’s pain is someone else’s gain, as is seen in the case of Sam Curran and now David Malan and Sam Billings. Sam Curran eventually replaced Stokes in the 2nd test against Pakistan. And now Stokes makes way for David Malan in the one off ODI against Scotland. Adding to the misery he will not feature in the initial stage of ODI’s against Australia. Sam Billings replaces him in the squad for the all important Aussie series.
Difficult times are seen for the adroit English all rounder. His services are very significant when it comes to discussions over World Cup 2019. He played for Rajasthan Royals in this year’s Indian Premier League. He looked great in the field but struggled with both bat and ball throughout the season.
Chris Woakes, another important player for England is ruled out for the ODI against Scotland. Tom Curran will replace him in the side. Sore Quadriceps muscle will keep him away from the game. Evaluation of his recovery for the five match ODI series against Australia is due this week. He has had similar injury issues during ICC Champions trophy and South Africa series in 2017. England will hope these two recover in time for the crucial series against their arch rivals from June 13.
