BCCI sends five India A bowlers to the UAE for net sessions
Five India A bowlers have seen sent by the BCCI to help the senior team during the net sessions of the Asia Cup.
Out of the five-three are pacers in the form of Madhya Pradesh’s Avesh Khan, M Prasidh Krishna of Karnataka and Siddharth Kaul of Punjab with the other two being left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem and leg-spin we Mayank Markhande.
Kaul was a part of the senior team squad which toured the UK for the limited overs’ leg earlier this year.
These five bowlers will be bowling in the nets for the next three days.
Other than Avesh, the other bowlers were a part of the India A and B squads who participated in the recently concluded Quadrangular series.
But it can expected that the bowlers would return back to the country to take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which is scheduled to begin from September 19.
“Not everywhere do you get quality net bowlers and it becomes a problem for the senior team during practice sessions. With back to back games, you don’t expect a Bhuvneshwar Kumar or a Jasprit Bumrah to bowl flat out at the nets. Also, the young academy bowlers at times can’t provide quality practice. Hence we have got some of our next line of bowlers,” a senior BCCI official, in his interaction with PTI said.
He added further, “This is a process that proves to be mutually beneficial for the team. While senior batsmen get quality practice, someone like a Mayank Markande can learn a lot by bowling at the India nets. Also, the senior players and the coaches can only keep a tab on the talent pool.”
However, this isn’t the first time that the BCCI has some something like this. Earlier this year when India toured South Africa, the Indian board sent players like Basil Thampi and Avesh for the net sessions.
A left-arm throwdown expert has also been arranged by the BCCI. Sri Lankan Nuwan Seneviratne would help the Indian batsmen prepare the left-arm fast bowlers, like Mohammad Amir, in the tournament.
