Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness celebrated Mesut Ozil’s retirement from the Germany National team, claiming that the midfielder has been s*** over the years.

Arsenal star Ozil stepped aside from the German National team, citing the “racism and disrespect” he received, following his photo with Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and teammate Ilkay Gundogan before 2018 World Cup, as the main reason for his decision, in a series of tweets he published on Instagram this Sunday.

Both Ozil and Gundogan came in for heavy criticism from fans and former players, who rebuked their inclusion in the German World Cup squad. They eventually played as Germany suffered a shock group stage exit. And Ozil, who feels that he was made the scapegoat for his Turkish roots announced his international retirement.

His decision was however welcomed by Hoeness who feels that the player has been putting up below-par performances for the last few years.

“I am glad that this spoof is now over. He had been playing s*** for years,” he told Sports Bild. “The last tackle he won was before the 2014 World Cup. And now he is hiding his creepy performance beyond this picture.”

He added that whenever Bayern played Arsenal, they will target Ozil because he was their weakest link.

“We played over him because we knew that was their weak point.”

“His 35 million follower boys – that don’t exist in real world – are convinced he has played sublimely when he completes a cross pass,” added the former West Germany forward.

Hoeness also spoke about the grass-root development of his country saying that it is catastrophe. “You have to go back to what it is: sport. And from a sporting point of view, Ozil had no place in the national team for years.”
