According to a deleted press release by publisher Athlon Games and resurrected developer Telltale Games, Batman: The Telltale Series could be up for a re-release. The re-released title will have a “noir-style visual makeover,” complete with a graphics upgrade in addition to a new DLC. It would be titled The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition.
The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition will feature a new DLC called the Shadows mode to add the new noir look. The entire Shadows edition collection costs $30. However, players that already own Batman: The Telltale Series can buy the DLC as a standalone for $5.
The press release said that the game was already available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. However, the release went down shortly after being posted. This could mean that some factual errors were made in the announcement. We will have to wait and see when this issue is addressed.
Telltale Games shut down in 2018 when it had to lay off 225 out of 250 employees. However, a few months ago LCG Entertainment announced that it purchased Telltale’s “key assets, trademarks, technology and select intellectual properties.”
In addition, LCG recently announced that The Wolf Among Us 2 is back in development. The game was previously shelved due to a multitude of financial issues. However, Telltale Games will no longer make The Walking Dead Games. The series was bought by Skybound Entertainment to complete the game’s final season.
The announcement for The Wolf Among Us 2 was accompanied by a brief trailer released at The Game Awards 2019.
