Barcelona’ midfielder Ivan Rakitic has been ruled out for at least three to four weeks following his hamstring injury which he sustained during Croatia’s 2-1 victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday, said the club.
This thus rules him out with immediate effect in Croatia’s must-win match against England in the tournament, on Sunday. Rakitic went back to Spain where he underwent the tests.
The medical report provided by the club didn’t state the time that Rakitic would require to heal from the injury but reports in Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo stated that the period could be something between two-three weeks.
The Croatian midfielder anyway wouldn’t be able to participate in Barcelona’s La Liga match against Atletico Madrid next Saturday after he was shown a red card in his side’s 4-3 loss to Real Betis at home last weekend.
He would also now miss Barcelona’s away fixture against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on November 28 and his side’s La Liga match against Villarreal at home on December 2.
