Barcelona midfielder Phillipe Coutinho sidelined with hamstring injury
Brazilian star midfielder Phillipe Coutinho has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for upto three weeks. A damage to the femoral biceps would see the Barcelona star miss out on the next few matches for both the club and the country.
He played the full match for his side in the Champions League against Inter Milan on Tuesday in San Siro where the playmaker came up with an assist to help Malcom score in the 1-1 draw.
“Tests undertaken on Thursday morning have confirmed that Philippe Coutinho has a small rupture in the femoral biceps of his left leg.
“He will be out for approximately two to three weeks,” an official statement from Barcelona read.
He would thus miss out on Brazil’s international fixtures against Uruguay and Cameroon which would be played on November 16 and 20 respectively.
If he recovers in time, he would be able to be a part of Barcelona’s crucial fixture against Atletico Madrid on November 24–match, that is definitely going to draw a lot of eyeballs.
The Catalan giants are currently perched at the top of the La Liga standings and are also through to the last-16 in the Champions League.
