‘Badhaai Ho’ movie review: A laugh riot with dramatic rides, all a viewer wants
Director: Amit Ravindernath Sharma
Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Surekha Sikri
Rating: 4/5
One of the most awaited films of the season, Badhaai Ho is going to hit screens tomorrow. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles. Neena Gupta has also made a comeback with the film and it has been beautifully put on screen by the cast and crew. The leads are supported by Sheeba Chaddha and Surekha Sikri, who don’t leave any stone unturned to put forth one-of-its-kind cinematic experience for the masses.
After watching the film, it is rather difficult to believe that it is the director’s debut film. The film’s plot revolves around the pregnancy of Priyamvada — essayed by Neena — who is in her later 40s or early 50s and the entire family has a nervous breakdown after hearing the news. Nakul — played by Ayushmann Khurrana — is in love with his office colleague, Renee (Sanya Malhotra) and they plan to get married soon, after introducing each other to their respective families. Everything is going as per plan, until Nakul’s parents become pregnant and decide to keep the baby.
While the first half of the film is an absolute laugh riot, the second half is an emotional and dramatic ride. The climax which is the best part of the film.
Ayushmann is a class apart actor. Veteran actors Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao are fabulous. Their comic timing, their romantic scenes and their chemistry will make you want to keep watching them more and more.
The story keeps you hooked and longing for more. The film is so crazy that you will want to be a part of this crazy family. The film dwells on the fact that ‘why should youngsters have all the fun?’
