‘Badhaai Ho’ actress Surekha Sikri passes away at 75
National Award-winning actor Surekha Sikri has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 75.
In a shocking turn of events, Surekha Sikri is no more! The National Award-winning actress passed away in Mumbai at the age of 75 reportedly due to cardiac failure. The news was confirmed by the actress’s manager.
The ‘Badhaai Ho’ actress’s manager confirmed the news to Indian Express and said: “Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.”
The actress made her debut in the 1978 political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka and went on to play supporting roles in numerous Hindi and Malayalam films, as well as in Indian soap operas. Sikri has received several awards, including three National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award.
The actor found a lot of popularity with her role of Kalyani Devi in the TV soap, ‘Balika Vadhu.’ Her latest release was the 2018 film, ‘Badhaai Ho’ co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, and Sanya Malhotra which got her immense recognition and appreciation from viewers and critics. She won three awards: the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film.
