Legendary social worker late Baba Amte’s granddaughter Dr Sheetal Amte-Karajgi allegedly committed suicide on Monday. A social entrepreneur and CEO of Maharogi Sewa Samiti (MSS) Anandwan Sheetal committed suicide at her residence in Anandvan in Chandrapur district. She was reportedly under stress since past few days.
“War and Peace,” read her post posted in the morning.
According to preliminary information, she injected poisonous injection which caused the death. Sheetal was rushed to the Warora Rural Hospital. Her body is sent for postmortem.
According to Maharashtra Times, Recently, Dr Sheetal had issued a video message on social media. in the video, she had razed allegations on the trust management and Amte family. She apparently had some issues with her brother Kaustubh who returned to the MSS and hence issued the said video. Within two hours, Facebook Live was deleted.
Later a statement was released by the Amte family refuting all rumours. Dr Vikas and Dr Prakash Amte, sons of late Baba Amte, issued a joint statement denying all allegations by Vikas’s daughter Sheetal about irregularities in Maharogi Seva Samiti.
Sheetal was trustee and CEO of MSS and her husband Gautam is still an operational head.
