Avengers: Infinity War Writers Reveal Red Skull Was Part Of The Reason Behind Their Return

Avengers: Infinity War was the movie that brought together dozen of characters and story arcs to bring the Infinity saga towards the end. The film was littered with surprises, heartbreaking moments as well as some unexpected returns. One of these was the return of Red Skull in Infinity War.

The writers of Infinity War, Stephen McFeely, and Christopher Markus stated that the return of Red Skull was part of the reason for their return. Speaking to ComicBook.com in #QuarantineWatchParty, the writers stated that they tried their best to tie Red Skull into the Infinity War saga.

“Bringing him back was the whole reason I agreed to do this movie,” Markus tweeted through the ComicBook.com account. “Well, that and all the other reasons. But to get a chance to bring back the bad guy from our first Marvel movie and use him in the wrap-up was too satisfying not to do.”

The writers also revealed that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) nearly got to wear an Iron suit. In an alternative scene, McFeely revealed that Doctor Strange would have worn an Iron Man suit in the rescue where Peter Parker and Tony Stark save Strange from Ebony Maw in space.

McFeely shared a photo through Comicbook.com’s Twitter account that shows Cumberbatch partially dressed up in the Iron man suit. However, as per the writers, it was an alternative scene that was “too awesome (and long)” to keep in the final film.

In addition, the writers also shared that while they had written and shot more into the Bruce/Natasha storyline. However, the arc was cut out of the final version.
