‘Avengers: Endgame‘ marks the culmination of a series of 22 superhero films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series chronicles the war between the Avengers and Thanos. The most-awaited Hollywood film of 2019, has finally opened in theatres and the response has been unprecedented. Not just for the American audience, the film also opened big, in India, China, Japan, the UK, parts of Europe and several other places across the globe.
The film has opened enormously with a record Rs 1,186 crore earnings worldwide. The preview record stands at Rs 419 crore on Thursday evening beating the domestic preview number of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ at Rs 398 crore in 2015. Now as per Deadline, the film continues smashing records at the international box office, crushing Rs 2,130 crore in just two days.
The movie is presently playing in 46 international markets, including India, the 22nd MCU outing is pacing ahead of Avengers: Infinity War in each of those. The movie raked in $169 million on Wednesday, its first day of release in 25 markets including China, Australia and several countries in Europe. The film’s performance in China was impressive. The film opened to a staggering Rs 747 crore at the Chinese box office. In India, Bookmyshow said that the advance sales had exceeded $2.5 million.
Pundits are predicting a debut weekend that could break records with the first billion-dollar worldwide opening in history.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and features Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
