Australian spin legend Shane Warne on Monday picked his playing XI for Australia to take on India in the first Test which kicks off on December 6 in Adelaide.
Warne, who is the highest wicket-taker for Australia in Tests chose a bowling attack that would be led by three fast bowlers and a spinner. He has also chosen all-rounder Marcus Stoinis as his debutant for the Test match.
The right-arm fast bowling all-rounder was one of Australia’s best performers with both bat and ball in their three-match ODI series against South Africa.
Taking to Instagram, the former leg-spinner uploaded a photo where he had the names of the playing XI.
Warne also couldn’t resist but have a dig at the fact that it wasn’t a Day/Night Test match.
Here’s his playing XI:
Aaron Finch (VC), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Tim Paine (captain), Mitch Marsh, Pat Cummins, Micthell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
Since that infamous ball-tampering scandal earlier this year, Australian cricket has been hit hard and the performances of the national team has slumped to new lows.
Following the saga which saw Steve Smith and David Warner handed 12-month bans, the Australian Test team led by Tim Paine has failed to live up to the expectations. They had lost the Test series against Pakistan 1-0 earlier this year.
