Austin Aries Calls The Coronavirus Outbreak ‘Fear Mongering’

After speculations over empty arena shows within WWE and AEW, professional wrestler Austin Aries has spoken about the Coronavirus outbreak. With news of WrestleMania 36 being in trouble, Austin Aries has called the Coronavirus situation a case of fear mongering. The free agent posted out several tweets where he outlined the reasons behind his statements.

These views have gone on to offend many of the Twitterati. People have commented several counter arguments to Austin’s statements in the comments section. One user wrote, “You can’t catch heart disease from someone coughing on you. Without taking COVID-19 very seriously, cases can boom, hospitals can be swamped and the death toll could overtake the pace of heart disease.”

Another twitter user supported the sentiment, writing, “I don’t want to get in a back in forth but you aren’t comparing apples to apples. One disease you can control with exercise and eating properly and the other you get from getting in contact with another human being who is infected with the virus.”

However, Austin Aries is not the only one speaking out against the Coronavirus outbreak. Former AEW Champion Chris Jericho also called the epidemic a case of “mass hysteria”. In a video shared by the TMZ, Jericho confirmed that his band Fozzy would not be canceling any of its events due to the outbreak.

“I don’t think the public should panic so much. Unless the cops tell us we can’t [we’re not canceling]. Mass hysteria, man.”

However, the Coronavirus is still an issue not to be taken lightly. Many Japanese wrestling promotions have already started taping empty arena shows to safeguard their talent and audiences.
