Atal Bihari Vajpaye: ‘Unless Pak forces leave Kargil, no discussions on any matter can take place.’

The relationship between India and Pakistan was at an all-time low during 1999. When it was learned that terrorists and non-uniform Pakistani soldiers had managed to sneak into Kashmir. Without wasting any time over national security then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave orders for operation Vijay in order to flush the infiltrators out of Indian soil.

After three months of gruelling battle in which many of our brave soldiers lost their life, Indian defence forces managed to throw out the infiltrators and recaptured the posts, showing the world that India was capable of defending itself with might.

In an Interview, India’s then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee addressed the media on Kargil War:

“As for now, we have not thought of crossing LOC.
It is difficult to tame us, we are continuously moving forward. Terrorist and Pakistani Army is retreating from their position.
When Vajpayee was asked about his meeting with Pakistan officials, he said that I have told him, Unless Pak forces leave Kargil, no discussions on any matter can take place.
Pakistan can use nuclear weapons, is India ready?
We are ready for every situation.
He also added that through diplomatic talks, we are trying to get the attention of the world.
