Indian athlete Jinson Johnson continued his impressive run at the 18th Asian Games with another medal, this time a gold at the men’s 1500m event in Jakarta on Thursday.
Johnson, who had claimed a silver at the 800m – in which India dominated with top two podium finishes – clocked 3 minutes and 44.72 seconds to bag the gold, while Amir Moradi of Iran claimed the silver with a 3 minute and 45.62s finish. Bahrain’s Mohammed Tiouali settled for the after clocking 3:45.88 seconds.

Compatriot and 800m gold medallist Manjit Singh finished fourth with a timing of 3:46.57sec.
It was India’s 12th gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, six of which have come from athletes.
Meanwhile, Seema Punia won the bronze in the women’s discus throw, while Chitra Unnikrishnan took bronze in the women’s 1500m race.
The Indian men’s hockey team however suffered a shock defeat to Malaysia in the semi-finals and will return with a bronze.
