India clinched a silver in the first ever mixed 4x400m relay to increase their medal tally to 50 at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The Indian mixed team which comprised of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Poovamma Machettira, Hima Das and Rajiv Arokia clocked 3 minutes and 15.71 seconds to finish behind Bahrain, who clinched the gold with a 3 minute and 11.89 seconds timing.
Kazakhstan settled for the bronze after finishing in 3:19.52s.

Beginning the relay for India Anas Yahiya gave his side lead, but Poovamma faltered. Hima though decreased the gap before Rajiv ensured the silver.
Meanwhile, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) on Tuesday lodged a complaint against the gold medallist Bahrain for causing obstruction to Hima Das during the 4x400m mixed relay event.
As per a report in PTI, the federation complained that Bahrain’s Oluwakemi Adekoya had intentionally fell in the path of Hima during the baton exchange. It forced her to jump over and then continue her run, which further helped Bahrain in increasing the gap.
It was a clear obstruction and we have lodged a protest. It also caused a minor injury to Hima. It cost us some time. The jury is there is there to see what happened,” informed AFI president Adille Sumariwala to the news agency. He also confirmed that the jury will give its verdict by 8:30 am on the next day.
India win two medals in Kurash
India bagged two more medals in the Kurash event as Pincky Balhara and Malaprabha Yallappa Jadhav claimed silver and bronze respectively in the women’s 52kg category.
While the 19-year-old Pinky lost 0-10 to Gulnor Sulaymnova of Uzbekistan in the summit clash to win the silver, Yallappa went down 0-10 in the semi-final to settle for the bronze.
Competing in the sport which a form of wrestling Pincky had earlier defeated Tsou Chiawen of Taipei 5-0 in the round of 16 clash before beating Sri Lanka’s Susanti Terry Kusumawardani 3-0 in the quarter-finals. She had overcome Abdumajidova Oysuluv of Uzbekistan 1-0 in the semi-finals.
