Recently, Eros Now announced a web series on the PM Modi. Titled ‘Modi’, the web series will be out in April this year, coinciding with the 2019 general elections that will be held from April 11 to May 19. Faisal Khan, Ashish Sharma and Mahesh Thakur will play Modi at different ages in the series. It is to be noted that Ashish Sharma will be seen playing young Narendra Damodardas Modi onscreen in a web series. Interesting isn’t it.
Ashish has primarily shot on all the actual locations where PM Modi hails from. Right from places where Modi spent his younger days, to places he stayed in after leaving home at a very young age and even in the Himalayas. Ashish shot in minus 10 degrees in snow and had to wear sadhu clothes which were just a cotton dhoti and kurta.
In an exclusive interview with Spotboye, Ashish Sharma said, “It’s a huge responsibility as I have to take forth a chapter of his life which is not much documented and still needs to be told because that journey laid the ground of the individual that he is today. I feel extremely responsible and honoured at the same time to be portraying one of the most prolific leaders of our time.”
The 10-part web series, which is bankrolled by Benchmark Pictures, will cover Modi’s life from the age of 12 to his political career – he joined BJP in 1987 after serving in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and later became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. In 2014, he took charge as prime minister. Umesh Shukla is a director of the web series.
It is to be noted that Ashish Sharma made his debut in Indian cinema with 2010’s anthology drama ‘Love Sex Aur Dhoka’, directed by Dibakar Banerjee. A popular name and a heartthrob on Indian television, popularly known for his roles as Lord Rama in ‘Siya Ke Ram’, Major Rudra Pratap Ranawat in ‘Rangrasiya’, Chandragupta Maurya in ‘Chandragupta Maurya’, and many more.
