Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Durgamati’ is one of the most anticipated films from Bollywood. The much-anticipated film is a remake of South blockbuster, ‘Bhaagamathie’ which featured Anushka Shetty and it is being bankrolled by Akshay Kumar. Arshad Warsi who is a part of this film, reacts to the Hindi remake of the south film. He says that ‘wish we would get braver’ in terms of choosing the films.
Arshad Warsi is currently gearing for the release of ‘Bachchan Panday’ alongside Akshay Kumar and ‘Durgamati’ alongside Bhumi Pednekar. He got candid with Pinkvilla recently, when he was quizzed on the new pattern in Bollywood filmmaking i.e. the resurgence in Hindi remakes of South films, he replied, “It’s been vice versa. Actually, it’s not fair to say that the Hindi film industry makes a remake of the South film industry. I think it’s both ways. Jolly [LLB] was made into a South film. Munna Bhai was made into a South film. So, it’s absolutely fine.”
He added further, “I think wherever… creativity should not have boundaries and languages and religion and stuff like that. As far as you’re entertaining people, please go ahead and get remakes and do parts and series and go for it. As long as you’re going to deliver the goods and let the people who come to watch it, enjoy it. I feel it’s absolutely fine. South and other film industries take inspiration from the Hindi film industry, the Hindi film industry takes inspiration from the South film industry. Absolutely, perfectly fine.”
‘Durgamati’ is being helmed by G Ashok and it also features Jissu Sengupta and Mahie Gill in the pivotal roles. The film is slated to be released on December 11.
