Indian women’s cricket team coach Tushar Arothe resigned after his position became unreasonable due to alleged differences with some of the well established players, who had revolted against his training methods.
“The BCCI on Tuesday accepted Tushar Arothe’s resignation. Arothe cited personal reasons behind his resignation and thanked the BCCI for giving him an opportunity to work with the Indian Women’s cricket team,” a statement from BCCI read.

“The Board would like to convey that it has been a pleasure working with Arothe and would like to thank him for his services towards the Indian Women’s team. The Board is in search of Arothe’s replacement,” it added.
This is the second time during the Committee of Administrators tenure that a national coach has stepped down after players revolt. Last year, men’s team head coach Anil Kumble resigned after his differences with captain Virat Kohli came to light.
One of the major reason for Arothe’s ouster was his training methods. While the coach was keen on having two practice sessions of two and half hours each in morning and afternoon, some of the seniors in their mid 30s were finding it difficult to cope with the difficult schedule.
It was because of their protest that the Indian team’s camp from June 15 to 25 was cancelled as BCCI was getting ready to show Arothe the exit door.
“There’s no hard feelings between the players and myself and any other support staff. I’m quitting due to a personal reason. I wish the girls well in the forthcoming series and in the World Cup,” Arothe said.
In 2018, Indian team won the three-match One Day International series and five-match T20 International series in South Africa. Earlier this year, the team successfully reached the final of the Asia Cup held in Malaysia where they lost in a hard fought encounter.
