Archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das completes engagement; to tie the knot next November
Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das got engaged in a family ceremony in Ranchi on Tuesday. The couple exchanged rings and confirmed that they will tie the knot next year.
According to a report in news agency PTI, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda and his wife Mira Munda were present on the occasion.
“So we have decided to tie the knot around November next year,” confirmed Deepika and Atanu as reported by the news agency.
Deepika wore a cream and green coloured ‘lehenga-Chunhi’ for the engagement ceremony. The couple performed a puja in the traditional ceremony at Deepika’s Ratu-Chatti residence.
A former World No.1 and a Commonwealth Games gold-medallist, Deepika was part of India’s 2016 Rio Olympics squad. She has also won three silver medals and a bronze at the World Cup Finals and will aim to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
Meanwhile, Das has been a regular member of the men’s recurve team and is currently world number 17.
