‘Pippa’ is an adaptation of the book The Burning Chaffees, authored by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron who, along with his siblings, fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. The film will star Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, and Priyanshu Painyuli in leading roles and will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
On Thursday, it was announced that AR Rahman has gotten on board the tank war film as the music composer. The official Twitter handle of Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies shared the news with the fans of the musician. They wrote, “Delighted to have the Oscar winning Maestro @arrahman scoring the music for #Pippa (sic).”
Talking about the same, A.R. Rahman said in a statement, “The story of Pippa has a very human connect. It’s about every family, and I instantly related to it. I am looking forward to working with Raja Krishna Menon, Ronnie Screwvala, and Siddharth Roy Kapur.”
This will not for AR Rahman’s first collaboration with Siddhartha Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala, earlier they have worked together on projects like ‘Swades’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, and ‘Delhi-6.’
In the film, Ishaan will essay the role of Brigadier Mehta, while, Mrunal will be seen playing the role of Ishaan’s younger sister and Priyanshu will play his elder brother. Soni Razdan will play the role of their mother. Written by Ravinder Randhawa, Tanmay Mohan, and Raja Krishna Menon.
