Anupam Kher REACTS to Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘clown’ remark

Actor Naseeruddin Shah recently opened up on the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act that has taken the nation by storm. Shah praised Deepika Padukone for her stand but slammed fellow actor Anupam Kher for supporting the BJP government and also called him a clown.

Anupam Kher has responded to Naseeruddin’s clown remark with a 1-minute 30-second video. In the video message to his A Wednesday co-star Kher said, “I saw the interview you gave about me. Thank you. I would like to inform you that I never take your remarks seriously. Even though I have never bad-mouthed about you. But now I will say – you have spent your entire life (even after achieving success) in frustration.”

For the uninitiated, In an interview with The Wire, Naseeruddin Shah had said, “You have to laud the courage of a girl like Deepika who is in the top firmament and yet takes a step like this. Even if she has a lot to lose. Someone like Anupam Kher has been very vocal. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He’s a clown. Any number of his contemporaries from NFD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It’s in his blood, he can’t help it.”
