Five Filmmakers Anubhav Sinha, Sudhir Mishra, Hansal Mehta, Ketan Mehta and Subhash Kapoor are coming together for a special project based on life during the coronavirus pandemic. They are working on an anthology film based on stories and experiences from the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to The Times of India, Anubhav said that Sudhir Mishra’s driver had contracted COVID and he was unable to get a bed . So they all were making calls just to get him a hospital bed. That night an idea struck him that they should document all of it. And what better way to do it than different filmmakers looking at different things? Then Sudhirs father died during the COVID period. They could not attend Irrfan’s funeral due to the lockdown. Tigmanshu fought the police saying that as Irrfan is a brother he wants to attend the funeral.
He further elaborated that Hansal’s story is quite comic and quite tragic. Sudhir’s is political, quite political. Subhash’s is also political but in a different way. Ketan is still zeroing on an idea.
The filmmaker added that he is still struggling with his story, “I want to tell an atmospheric story, which is about fear. I live on the 20th floor and I can see a very large expanse of Mumbai from my window. It has suddenly started looking like a deserted, dead city“.
Produced by Anubhav Sinha under his banner Benaras Mediaworks, the untitled anthology is scheduled to release in 2021.
