Months after Anu Malik was accused of sexually assaulting few women and stepped down from the post of Indian Idol Judge 10, the report suggests that Anu Malik will soon be seen appearing on the stage of Superstar Singer. It is to be noted that there are several singers including Sona Mohapatra, Shweta Pandit and Alisha Chinai had accused him of sexually harassing them.
When the #MeToo campaign was at its peak in India last year and they made several allegations against Anu Malik. Following the allegations, he was asked by the TV channel to quit the Indian Idol show. Post his decision, the TV channel issued a statement which reads as “Anu Mallik is no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue according to its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar to judge the extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10.”
A few months back, there were reports doing the rounds that Anu Malik will be returned to Indian Idol 11 as the judge. However, there is no official announcement has been made as of now. According to a report published in Bombay Times, Anu Malik will be appearing on singing-based reality show named Superstar Singer alongside lyricist Sameer for one episode. Talking about it, a source had said, “He will make an appearance along with lyricist Sameer in an episode dedicated to the songs composed and written by them.”
In 2018, Shweta Pandit described Anu Malik as a ‘sexual predator’ and ‘a paedophile’. In addition, singer Sona Mohapatra also accused the 58-year-old music composer of sexual harassment. However, Anu Malik rubbished all accusations made against him.
Meanwhile, Alisha had accused Malik of molestation in the ’90s. She also dragged him to court. However, the matter was resolved a few years later and they reconciled as co-judges on Indian Idol. Singer Caralisa Monteiro also levelled sexual harassment charges against him.
