Another day, another policeman abducted in Jammu and Kashmir

Another abduction has highlighted the hardships and atrocities policemen are put through in the dispute-stricken land of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as a Special Police Officer (SPO) was abducted by terrorists in Pulwama district’s Tral region on July 28. The militants abducted the police officer Shakeel Ahmad Lone while he was visiting one of his relatives in the region, reports by his family have claimed.

Talking to ANI, J&K Deputy General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid said that the information is being verified. There has been no much information as the probe is on and further details are awaited.

A few days ago constable Saleem Khan was abducted from his residence in the Mutalhama area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir. A manhunt was then launched by the security forces to find the terrorists but ended up finding the bullet-ridden body of the policeman whom the terrorists had tortured and killed. Khan had joined the services merely two years ago and was reportedly on leave when he was abducted, had joined the services in 2016 and was posted to DPL Pulwama after completing his basic training.

Previously, police had recovered the body of a constable Javaid Ahmad Dar on July 5. He also had been abducted by militants from his home in the Shopian district of Jammu & Kashmir.
